Association for erotic and sexual services
The BesD wants to improve the working and living conditions of sex workers and to inform and educate them about the different aspects of prostitution.
You will find parking spaces either directly at the Brothel on Roelckestrasse or in front of the EDEKA market on Pistorius Strasse. There you can park for 1.5 hours free of charge and the walk to Brothel is only 2 minutes. Please do not park in front of the Flair in the no-stopping zone. It hinders traffic and, above all, emergency and rescue services get through badly.
Thank You.

The terms “whores” and “hookers” are historically very loaded. They are associated with moral condemnation and social stigmatization. They are often used as swear words in normal language and reduce sex workers to a misleading characteristic: the “sale” of their bodies. This is of course wrong, because nothing is being sold here, only a service is being offered. You can buy a television, for example, and then do what you want with it. Sell it on, give it away or throw it in the bin. It should be obvious to any reasonable person that this does not apply to sex work. It ignores the fact that sex workers are self-determined and decide for themselves which guest they offer which service. Sex workers are not “hookers” who work without self-determination! They are women (of course also men and gender-diverse people) who work in a service profession. There is a clear legal framework and most sex workers work with a high degree of professionalism. The term “whore” is also often used in the context of fraud or deception. There are a number of “neologisms” that use the term “whore” or “whores” in a negative way, which is another example of the devaluation of this profession.
The word “whorehouse” is also derogatory and conveys the image of a dingy store in a dark backyard corner where women are exploited and shady guys hang around. This image no longer applies to many modern brothels. The vast majority of brothels are legal, have high hygiene standards and are run professionally. Sex workers find a safe working environment here and can exercise their personal and professional rights. It makes more sense to use the term “brothel”. A proper brothel is a regulated business in which sex workers simply go about their work and offers a business framework that provides security for everyone involved.
Our social image is very much shaped by our language. The way we speak to each other also shapes our attitude towards certain professions. Words like “whorehouse”, “whores” and “hookers” have been used for a very long time, but they actually only serve prejudices that tend to harm modern and self-determined sex work. Respectful terms such as “brothel” and “sex worker”, on the other hand, are helpful in establishing a factual and objective view of this industry.
The use of positive or at least neutral terms is an important step towards improving the general perception of sex work. Sex workers deserve the same respect as other professions. The term “sex worker” describes the nature of the work in a neutral and factual way, without making a moral judgment.
The situation is similar with the term “brothel”. While “whorehouse” evokes negative associations, “brothel” stands for a business that, like many other businesses, operates under clear legal conditions. In a brothel, sex workers can work safely and have rights that they can enforce.
By using the words “brothels” and „sex workers“ instead of “whorehouses” and “whores” or “hookers”, you help us to break down prejudices and establish a more respectful attitude towards people in this profession. This will not only benefit sex workers, but ultimately you too. After all, the recurring desire among some actors to ban and criminalize sex work (directly or through the back door of punishing clients) is essentially based on these outdated prejudices and clichés.
